This sustainable design for a new 2,700 sf settlement house will be the first of six to support recent immigrants in a West Baltimore community. The house will provide critical social services and community connections to vulnerable populations in poor, heavily immigrant areas. The “@TheHouse” will deliver social support, psychological and emotional support, family reunification support, and skills development training to advance independence for Baltimore’s immigrant community.

Since 1886, settlement houses have served residents of impoverished urban neighborhoods, predominantly immigrants, by providing recreation, education, and medical and social service programs.
