Challenge
A tight urban site in the nation's Capital—with an 45-bed assisted living program serving seniors with behavioral health and addiction recovery needs requiring a residential, homelike scale not typically associated with dense city sites.

Outcome
Three small house model households, one per floor across four floors, each a self-contained neighborhood of care rather than a wing off a central corridor. Every household opens onto a large activity room. The first-floor and basement common areas include dedicated PT, OT, and hydrotherapy suites—bringing a residential model of care and genuine access to nature to a site that offered neither by default.
