Services: Architecture + Interior Design

Size: 400 SF

Cost: $90,000

Awards: Honor Award, AIA Maryland

With just 400 square feet of interior space in the base module, the SEGUE House™ is a compact personal economical dwelling for just one or two people. It is both a pun on the Segway® and an actual segue to an ecological lifestyle. The SEGUE House™ plan is 20’x10’, roughly equal to the space taken by a parked car. The house may be constructed individually or in duplex arrangements; it may be built on a slab on grade or elevated on piers for minimal grading or future change of venue. Equally comfortable in the city or on a secluded wooded or waterfront lot, the SEGUE House™ is designed to also fit on the parking pad of a suburban house to create an instant rental or teen unit.

The building components include: concrete foundation and concrete  slab on grade, 6” insulated SIPS wall panels, 12” insulated SIPS roof panels, IPE roof deck tiles (walkable roof surface), triple insulated low-E wood windows, Energy-Star appliances, tankless water heater and a green roof.
