Firm Profile

RM Sovich Architecture is a full service architectural design firm located in Baltimore, MD. As a young architect, Mr Sovich was surprised by the low design expectations those in my profession often associated with design for the elderly. He saw an unfulfilled need for quality design for the under-served; he envisioned well-designed environments that are warm, nurturing, and have a strong sense of place. If buildings can make people sick, he reasoned, perhaps they can also be designed to promote health and well-being. He founded RM Sovich Architecture in 1994 with the mission of creating high quality, thoughtfully designed buildings and places and providing professionally delivered design services to nonprofit organizations-- particularly those serving the elderly, children, and those who are physically disadvantaged.

Early projects included, the Ruth Keeton House, a group home with adult daycare addressing the needs of people with depression, located in Harper’s Choice Village, and the Children’s Guild of Baltimore, a school and therapeutic group home addressing the needs of children with special education needs in Baltimore.

Subsequently, the firm expanded from three to ten employees. By utilizing computer technologies, the firm has been able to design and execute projects as small as a 1,000 square foot house addition to projects as large as and complex as a $26,000,000, award winning senior and assisted living residence. In 2005 the firm moved to the current location in Brewer’s Hill.

Over the past 15 years the firm has designed and completed projects in Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Arkansas, Colorado, New Jersey, and California.
